2014 National Tourism Award

The Avianca-founder and member of the Board, Roberto Kriete, received the National Tourism Award for their invaluable contribution to the development of the airline competitiveness and its contribution to the promotion of the tourism industry. 

The delivery of this distinction made in its tenth year, was led by Tourism Minister Jose Napoleon Duarte Durán. 

The official ceremony took place on the premises of the National Theatre and was attended by special guests, including government officials and diplomatic corps. 

"I am proud to acknowledge the work of the winners not only tonight, but all employers who have struggled to put up the name of our nation, helping to create more jobs in the sector and benefiting thousands of Salvadoran families now believe in tourism, improving their quality of life, "said Duarte. 

Meanwhile Roberto Kriete thanked for this award and expressed his firm belief that "every effort is made to encourage the development of tourism is an important contribution that generates value to the economy of our country and the region."

The Ministry of Tourism also gave recognition to the business credit for contribution to the development of the tourism industry in El Salvador through its investment projects. 

The winners were Antonio Safie, owner of Hotel Sheraton Presidente; Teresa Giammattei Batres and Marco Batres, Hot Santa Teresa; Jose Ismael Villacorta and Villacorta Light, The Mists Restaurant and Juan Manuel Alfaro, El Carmen Hotel & Coffe State Resort. 

MITUR also honored the journalistic work of three communications professionals: Armando Godoy, Channel 33; Ana Martinez, "Discovering El Salvador" program and Vanessa Linares, Diario El Mundo.
