A walk through the 1972 Managua


Handsome. A replica of Roosevelt Avenue and its historic buildings is the main attraction of the Paseo Xolotlán, which already opened its doors to the public.

Living in the past

"It seems very pretty, because here, at least in this part of Roosevelt Avenue, you look at the buildings that were formerly in Managua and were collapsed by the earthquake of 72, and one feels very excited to see these things," says. 

Osman guitarist Delgado, the walk brought him to remember when he came to sit in the back of the National Palace, where the restaurant was Munich: "I came to be sitting there listening to the guitars, though I still did not play the guitar" relates. 

"I tae fond memories of my chavalada, was 12 when we come to live in Managua, and I remember it right now I'm seeing all these miniature structures ... This is very beautiful," he adds. 



One-year work 

DESIGNER • Gonzalo Chavarria, who works in architecture, advertising and decorations, is the author of the work. According to Chavarria, to conclude the replica of Old Managua, a team of architects, designers and builders worked for a year. 

"It's an exciting job, we dreamed of a project like this and we're actually doing now," he says. 

He explains that this is a replica where the most representative buildings reconcentrated, however, there are plans to also capture other important buildings, although not in Roosevelt. 

To Chavarria, models are to be useful for new generations know the beautiful city of Managua was, but also to reflect that we have to build better and learn to live in a seismic place. "That is the lesson of all this, aside from how beautiful the work."
